Pain ReLIef EP

Niomí’s Pain Relief EP Pain Relief is about embracing the self, including the emotional and physical suffering we all have to deal with one day or another. Indeed, back in 2018, after living with chronic pain for over a decade, Niomí got diagnosed with endometriosis. This led her to abruptly interrupt her career and songwriting process, but also to feel very isolated. Life moved on, whilst her pain didn’t. “Often, when going through difficult times with my personal relationships, work and music, my pain got worse. I find this link between body and mind really interesting. Most of my songs are, at their core, about pain in the form of heartbreak and finding some relief from it”, she details.

Sharing her own scars in this ethereal 3-track project, the London-based singer-songwriter-producer hopes that “others will also find in it some comfort and relief, whatever they might be going through”. With Niomí’s soothing voice softly licking your wounds like an ointment, this EP is an invitation to self-acceptance but also to take back control in all areas of life, including love – as she touches on in her new single With You. “I had a long-term relationship which was abusive. I couldn’t be myself and the beginning of this track reflects the subtle changes that started around that time. I stopped writing songs and was questioning myself. The chorus acknowledges the person that was there trying to just be but couldn’t whilst I was with them”, she explains.

SUSURRUS EP

Niomí is coming to blossom in her debut EP Susurrus. At the core of this forest of songs is a reflection on heartbreak, mental health, loss, and finding a light at the end of the tunnel. “I heard the word on a radio show one day, described as ‘the sound of the wind moving in the trees, she explains. I thought it was so beautiful to have a word for such a subtle and tiny thing and I related to that concept. Susurrus is about finding my sound. My voice is quiet and soft, as are parts of my personality. I can struggle with that and often feel I need to be bigger, louder, or brighter. The word reminded me that there’s beauty in the small, quiet things. ‘Susurrus’ perfectly sums up where I am right now personally and musically. “

Stemming from a breakup and her yearning desire to turn over a new leaf, the hypnotising single Snow will lead the 3-track EP, alongside a sculptural music video directed by Jess Anderson. “It's about that point after a relationship ends where you start to feel ok again, Niomí continues. I love the image of freshly fallen snow and how pure and clean it is. That's how I felt coming out the other side of that relationship.”
